ramadol was the ONLY thing that eased my pancreatitis pain for more than 1.5 hours. Morphine just made it worse, and Dilaudid, that strong stuff for cancer, only lasted about 2 hours. Hospitals have a 4-hour rule on painkillers, but I really wish there weren’t so many issues with PKs. Like benzos, they’re incredibly tough to quit.

The effects of Tramadol depend on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6, which varies by individual. Based on ethnic background, there may be a 7X% chance of being a poor or non-metabolizer, and a 2% chance of being a strong metabolizer. Some people metabolize it well and really enjoy the effects, while others metabolize it well but don’t find the effects enjoyable. Then there are those who metabolize it poorly or not at all. For some, Tramadol might be highly effective; for others, it might do nothing. It all depends on CYP2D6 and your opiate receptors.
For me it does Fuck all. Waste of $$.
